Clarence James - Debut Album Release (2020)

Austin-based artist Clarence James is excited to announce his debut LP titled Fucked Me Up releasing on Bandcamp on June 19, or Juneteenth, the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States. The LP will be exclusively available on Bandcamp for one week, where all proceeds earned through their platform will be donated to Black Lives Matter and Austin Justice Coalition to support the movement for Black lives. The album will then be released on all streaming platforms the following Friday, June 26. 

James has been planning to release his project on Juneteenth, a monumental day for the Black community, for some time. As a Black artist, James’ decision to release on this date seemed more relevant than ever -- to connect this LP that represents a big moment in his career to a big moment in Black history; and not only that, but to also support the movement at hand directly in any way possible.

“I’ve always wanted to be able to use my platform to make a change if I can,” he says. “I’ve seen firsthand how cops target low income/minority groups. Systemic racism is something most minorities have had a taste of. It feels like a hopeless battle sometimes, considering how long we’ve been fighting it. But at this moment it doesn’t seem hopeless to me. There are so many people doing their part globally at this moment. It’s an amazing thing to see and be a part of. I’m glad I can use this platform to spread awareness and help in any way I can.”
